Architectural Design

Students will design their “Dream House,” and produce a set of drawings using architectural CAD. Using the 10 Patterns of Home and the engineering design process students produce a plan that is functional and pleasing to the eye. They will build a 3D model of their “Dream House.”

Students in Architectural Design work at their own pace to design a home. Because some students will catch on to the software faster than others, they may move along faster. These students will be tasked with additional enrichment activities.

Trimester Plan:

Students should have sketches, pictures, url's, etc. for the house they wish to design after 4 weeks into the trimester. This activity should continue throughout the term. At seven weeks, students should be completing the tutorial exercises and beginning work on their designs. Ten to twelve weeks into the trimester, students should have drawings printed and begin constructing their 3D models. During the last week of the trimester, students should be preparing to present their homes to the class. Presentations will take place during the final assessment day.
